LEBANON, N.H.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Snowden Lane Partners, an independent, advisor-owned, wealth advisory firm dedicated to providing client-focused advice in a values-driven culture, today announced that The Upland Group has joined the firm and will open a new office in Lebanon, New Hampshire, Snowden Lane’s 13th office nationwide.
The former Morgan Stanley team joins Snowden Lane with $212 million in client assets and is comprised of industry veterans Stephen Bartholow, Coe Kerr and Stephanie Young. Bartholow and Kerr are both joining the firm as Managing Directors and will serve as Senior Partner and Partner, respectively. Young will operate as a Senior Registered Client Relationship Manager.
The Upland Group is the first team to join the fast-growing hybrid RIA in 2023, following a two-year period that saw Snowden Lane add 23 advisors and $3.9 billion in total client assets. With over 75 years of combined financial services experience, The Upland Group specializes in estate, retirement and wealth planning for high-net-worth clients, underscored by a multi-generational portfolio management approach.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Stephen, Coe and Stephanie to Snowden Lane, as they have built a tremendous reputation across our industry after working together for so many years,” said Rob Mooney, Managing Partner & CEO of Snowden Lane Partners. “Our firm has always envisioned expanding our national footprint into New England, and The Upland Group is the perfect team to represent Snowden Lane in New Hampshire. I’m truly humbled by the interest Snowden Lane continues to receive from the advisor community, and am equally proud that we are further expanding so early in the new year.”
“I’m looking forward to writing the next chapter of The Upland Group at Snowden Lane and am especially excited to continue working alongside Coe and Stephanie,” said Stephen Bartholow. “Snowden Lane’s reputation across the wealth management industry made the firm a natural fit for our team, as we’ve always valued the flexibility to create comprehensive, personalized portfolio management strategies that can best serve each of our domestic and international clients’ individual needs.”
Prior to Snowden Lane, Bartholow and Kerr co-founded The Upland Group at Morgan Stanley, where they have spent the past 13 years sharing the roles of portfolio manager, financial advisor, and investment strategist.
Bartholow previously served as chief investment officer at Carret Asset Management for 10 years and as portfolio manager for Cowen Asset Management, a division of Cowen & Co. He has extensive experience serving high-net-worth clients and institutional accounts.
Similarly, Kerr spent 12 years working for Carret Asset Management as a senior portfolio manager, in addition to serving as president and CEO for six years. Prior to that, he was a portfolio manager for H.G. Wellington & Co. and director of research for Tucker Anthony, where he also served on the executive committee and the board of directors. He has also worked as an equity analyst for firms including Lehman Brothers, Kuhn Loeb, Pain Webber Mitchell Hutchins, and Dean Witter Reynolds.
Young previously served as a portfolio associate and financial planning associate at Morgan Stanley for over 10 years, responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Upland Group. Additionally, she was responsible for client account maintenance, sourcing new client relationships and operational procedures.
“It’s always rewarding to welcome experienced, quality advisors to the firm, and The Upland Group is no exception,” said Greg Franks, President and COO of Snowden Lane Partners. “I have a true appreciation for the personal attention Stephen, Coe and Stephanie give to each of their clients, and their approach fits seamlessly into the culture we’ve built at Snowden Lane. I’m looking forward to seeing the immediate impact they will undoubtedly have.”
Added Coe Kerr, “I’ve been fortunate to enjoy a long career that has run the gamut of financial services, and Snowden Lane’s approach stood out as our team evaluated the next phase of our business. The firm has grown tremendously over the last few years, and I’m humbled that we can play a part in opening Snowden Lane’s latest office location while continuing to serve the community we’ve grown so fond of.”
